About Artist

Heidi Jordan was born in NY, NY. As a child, she enjoyed drawing on walls, toys, etc, until she was directed by frantic parents to draw on paper. Her first published art appeared in a collection of children’s artwork in the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in NY at the age of seven. Having been drawn to faces from early on, inspired by God’s most interesting and intimate creation, she began to concentrate on drawing and painting portraits in various media, including pencil, pencil crayon, pen and ink, charcoal, pastel, acrylic, and oil. Heidi also began to draw cartoons and caricatures, having been inspired by newspaper and newsmagazine editorial cartoons. Her first published cartoon appeared in the Walden Observer. Heidi’s artwork had been exhibited in student art shows in Northern Ontario. Heidi was accepted into the Ontario College of Art, now known as OCAD University.

While a student at the Ontario College of Art, Heidi did portraits and caricatures for Portraits in Pastel at Ontario Place and the Canadian National Exhibition.

Heidi graduated from the Ontario College of Art and began producing courtroom drawings for CFTO-TV in Toronto. Her courtroom drawings appeared on the evening news broadcasts of CFTO News (local) and CTV News (national) as well as a spot drawing on the front page of the Toronto Sun. She also has done caricatures at children’s parties for TD Canada Trust and Scotiabank, as well as for The United Way (charity), as well as Matthews’ House Hospice (charity fundraiser). Heidi did the editorial cartoons for the Alliston Herald for several years and is a member of a number of artists’ organizations.

These days, Heidi spends her time with her family in rural Ontario, and is available for art commissions, including portraits, special caricatures for gift giving, and special events. Arrangements can be made for Heidi to draw caricatures at your special event, whether it is a children’s party, retirement party, family reunion, wedding reception, political gathering, company event, or any gathering in which the goal is to break the ice and get the guests to relax and have fun.

Here are some samples of the variety of the art of Heidi Jordan for you to enjoy.
